April Wrap-Up ft. my favorite series in the entire universe

Flower Bouquet 2

I read so many things this month????? And so many of them got at least four stars, this has been a fantastic time to be alive, and Netgalley and I are trying our relationship again, sooooooo APRIL I LOVED YOU.

Also I’ve been redesigning my blog (nurturing my art skills which I’ve discovered are actually very dead) so everything is a total mess right now (describing my entire personality)

But WordPress and I are friends, we’re going to get through this!!! Or one of us will.

Foxhole Court trilogy by Nora Sakavic // This is my new all-time favorite series and I actually reread it twice this month oh goddddd. Some important things to note. The MC, Neil Josten, my angel, is demisexual. There are DARK themes, friendships, and the most perfect slow burn gay romance in this world. If I love you it’s very likely I’ve yelled at you to read this and i’m sorrryyyyy. But seriously read it.

Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz (reread) // I just identify with Ari and Dante so much??? They are so cute and it only takes me a few hours to read. So worth it. So beautiful.

The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller // Patrochilles is my OTP & my life. The prose itself in this book was so gorgeously done. PERFECT ILIAD AESTHETIC.

Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli // Sooooosooooo cute.

A List of Cages by Robin Roe // For when you want that deep platonic love.

Fence by C.S Pacat // A webcomic with art and angst and fencing and students in ties and hate-to-love trope.

More Happy Than Not by Adam Silvera // Buddy Read with Elizabeth and review to come after I’ve repaired my sad smol heart.

Autoboygraphy by Christina Lauren // GLORIOUS TRASH

The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli // Buddy Read with Andy and I wish I liked this book morrreeeee???? I wanted to love this.

Captive Prince Trilogy by C.S Pacat // WOWOWOWOW I read this in one weekend and was so pleased. THE PREMISE. LAURENT. DAMEN. Very dark and difficult to read but also very sweet in the end.

How to Repair a Mechanical Heart by J.C Lillis // When Abel is everything decent in this world.

Raven Cycle series by Maggie Stiefvater (technically happened in March but I forgot to talk about it oooppppssss) // I’ve painted “Save Adam Parrish” on my local water tower because he’s perfect in every way.

Love, Simon (2018) // This was so cute????? It was more Simon-centric than Simon+Blue-centric which I was totally okay with because Simon is an adorable hero.

Loving Vincent (2017) // This was such a GORGEOUS ARTISTIC ode to my soulmate, Vincent van Gogh, oh my goshhhhh. And DOUGLAS BOOTH IS THERE. & This is the world’s first fully painted film ever to be done which is just SO FANTASTIC. It’s about the mystery surrounding Vincent’s death in France and the aesthetic of this film is so authentic, I just fell in total passionate love. Also it goes into the PRECIOUS relationship between Vincent and his brother Theo which you know I’m obsessed with.

All Malec Moments In Chronological Order (YouTube) // To make me a more complete person.

1/2 of Troy: Fall of a City (netflix) // PATROCHILLES WINS AGAIN. Also Hector is just the sweetest little summer child.

this is quiteee late but LOVE THIS POST (and I’m seriously loving your blog design?? I must have been living under a rock all this time because it’s so so gorgeous 🌟)

The Song of Achilles and the Foxhole Court trilogy have been on my radar for practically…. forever and this basically reinforced my determination to read them ASAP. it seems like you’ve basically read all the most delightful gay books on my TBR. <33

also what the heck that Malec video is my current #Mood

    Love this list!
I’m in search for “cute” books lately. My BF has this theory that i’m not sleeping well lately cuz of all the “stressful” books i’ve been reading (scary shit, suspense, demonic children, etc) and told me i should read some “nice stuff”.
Well, i don’t know if he’s right or wrong, but i told him i’m willing to give it a try. I have a few of these already on my kindle, so gonna try them this month i think.

Sounds like you had a brilliant April, you definitely got through some amazing books and it’s great that so many of them got four stars or above, makes it hard to choose just one favourite doesn’t it? πŸ™‚
I love Becky Albertalli’s books, Simon Vs is my favourite by her so far but both The Upside of Unrequited and Leah on the Offbeat were amazing too, and oh The Song of Achilles is another all-time favourite of mine, but just thinking about how it ends breaks my heart.
Also I loved the Love, Simon movie, I can’t wait for it to be released on DVD so I can watch it all over again. πŸ™‚
Great post, and I hope you have a brilliant May as well. πŸ˜€ ❀

Ah, Mal, your new colors and artsy things are so cute!!! I’m totally in love. 😍 Also you linked to my blog twice in one post??? I feel like someone just dumped a bucket of clover and rainbows on my head 🌈☘️🌈☘️🌈☘️ (my inner Irish heart is just so happy)
And all the GAY reads this month? Are you a miracle of amazingness? And Patroclus + Achilles feels, ah my heart, don’t cry, you have finals, thou shalt not cry right now. And then you go remind me about Hector? #feelingsobetrayed He is my smol sunshine son and must be loved and protected at all costs. (Ok, I’m still ticked at Apollo for abandoning him. Stupid gods and fate)
And the only way to watch Shadowhunters is just watch all the Malec moments. That is all.
