JUNE WAS PRIDE MONTH AND I WAS SO HAPPY.

I adore love stories and just to experience so much diversity this month made me overjoyed ❤

But even though it was my favorite month, I didn’t read many things.  This was one of those months where I would pick up something and DNF, and it quickly became a horrible vicious cycle.

  • I failed a Buddy Read with Strawberry Hamilton and it was so sad.
  • I was supposed to read To All the Boys I Loved Before I just couldn’t get into it. *quietly cries*
  • + my mental health has not been amazing, it’s so easy to not want to deal with life and never leave my soft bed.
  • BUT I reached 600 followers???? WHICH MADE ME FEEL BETTER.
  • I’m honestly so grateful but also surprised. Because I abuse my caps privileges. And every post is somehow about The Foxhole Court.
  • THANK YOU SO MUCH.
  • YOU ARE MY PRECIOUS FRIENDS.
  • and
  • my sister started a book blog!!????? I’ve been trying to get her to do this for ages and she’s finally done it and it’s impossible not to adore her.

This was such a good book and no one believes me, I need to start a Goodreads campaign because this book deserves so much!!!

A sweet love story with adorable cuddling.

epic love story

This story was not as epic as I hoped. The rep was amazing but everything else was underwhelming.

OSCAR WILDE IS FOREVER MY PRINCE AND I WILL FOLLOW HIM THROUGH HELL. I just love him.

This was hilarious and short and it’s my second favorite.

running

This book taught me a life lesson. *Do not expect things to be like Foxhole Court because this leads to being emotionally foiled.

I need a long moment. This is SO SO GOOD. I’ve been emotional and tired because I’m so pleased with this booookkkkkkkkkk

It takes place in a post-WW3 society, in which there’s an underground Agency that “takes care of” things. But it’s really corrupt and dangerous and produces anxious assassins.

who I want to protect.

We have Boyd who is cold and unfeeling and selfish.

and androgynous!!! my favorite thing in the entire world.

Then we have MY TRUE ANGEL

MY SUNSHINE

MY PRECIOUS PRECIOUS DARLING DEAR OF TEARS AND LOVE

hsin. ❤

He’s so pretty. AND SO BROKEN INSIDE. and so selfless and loyal. and sarcastic. and sweet.

male model GIF

He’s the agency’s super agent, the strongest, fastest, most efficient killer. And this has been since he was 14 and smol.

He’s known as the psychopath. This poor dear is kept in a box when he’s not sent on missions and he wears a literal shock collar so the agency can control him at all times.

I love him so ridiculously much. I wanted to rescue my son. My amazing son who is South American and Chinese and gorgeous.

Boyd and Hsin = my otp

And I’m currently reading Percy and I’m so in love.

I started reading a month ago, promptly lost my copy, gave up all hope, then found it randomly under my desk and now I must finally finish.

I didn’t realize how funny Rick Riordan is?????? I will aggressively throw marshmallows at anyone who resists reading this book.

Congratulations on reaching 600 followers, you totally deserve each and every one! ❤
I'm so sorry that you couldn't get into All The Boys, it's one of my favourite contemporary books, but it definitely has some faults, I just tend to brush off most of them if the feeling is right with fluffy contemporaries. I was hoping Running with Wolves was a bit like The Foxhole Court as well :(( so sad to hear it's not, eh.
    Lovely post! ❤

I’m sorry June wasn’t the best month for you, Malanie! Reading-wise & also in regards to your mental health – I hope you’re feeling much better now, and if you ever need someone to talk to, I’m here, okay!! ❤

But congrats on reaching 600 followers, that's so amazing, and you deserve every single one, and many more!!

    Happy reading & I hope you're having a wonderful July! ❤

I’m sorry to hear about the mental health issues. 😦 They’re always so difficult, aren’t they?

Aw, I love your all caps and general hyper, enthusiastic writing. ^^ It’s very uplifting to read from such an exuberant and energetic voice!

Lots of great books there! Omg yeah I adore The Importance of Being Earnest. XD And I love that Oscar Wilde is bi, haha. The Picture of Dorian Gray is rather creepy, btw, but I still love it.

Hmm recently I started reading a series that begins with a book called A Little Bit Langston, and I’m now reading the sequel, Alpha Wave. It’s fantasy, sci-fi, gay af, and wow mixed race couples!!! In the first book, one of the boys is half Filipino, and in the second book, one of the heroines is Korean. I don’t know if you agree, but I feel that Asians are an especially underrepresented POC population… Maybe because some white writers think Asians are exotic?? I’m Chinese myself, so that’s too bad. (There was once when my attention was caught by a gay romance book just because there was an Asian guy on the cover— He’s a gay Korean ace. 8D) So I love how for both of the couples so far, there is an Asian or half-Asian character.

As well, for Alpha Wave, it stars a female-female couple. I unfortunately have a pattern where I have very high expectations for FF romances, so I’m easily disappointed. Thus, I’m so happy that I’m enjoying THIS girl-girl couple’s story! 😁

Happy reading, Malanie! How are Marcel and Violet doing, btw? 😊

Wow there’s a queer version of Dorian Gray?? 8D Well, Dorian’s friend and mentor (don’t remember his name) doesn’t seem to be very straight, hahaha!

One gay romance with an Asian hero that I really, really loved, is Heavyweight by M.B. Mulhall. He’s Chinese!

Oh no. 😥 I hope he comes back! (But Violet is already living in hell, right? Nvm don’t spoil it for me, lol.)

I’m sorry you didn’t have any luck with To All the Boys I Loved Before. To be honest, I didn’t love the first one because I found Lara Jean super annoying but then the second and third books ended up being way better for me. I hope you find something in July that you like!

Malanie you’re not alone!! And now I don’t feel so alone because I could’t get into To All The Boys either! I tried listening to the audiobook a while ago and had to DNF it because I just felt so disconnected from the characters.

Also, followed your sister’s blog! YAY MORE BOOK BLOGGER FRIENDS!! 😄

  6. Beth (Reading Every Night) says:

Oh congrats on reaching 600 followers Malanie and you got through some good books as well, even if this was a month where you picked up books only to DNF them. 🙂
The only one of these I’ve read is The Lightning Thief but Rick Riordan is one of my favourite authors, honestly anything he writes is an absolute must-read for me and I actually have a few of his books still on my TBR list which I can’t wait to get around to (hopefully soon).
Also I really hope you enjoy Every Heart a Doorway and And I Darken. Both are favourites of mine so I’ll be looking forwards to seeing what you think of them. 🙂
Great post, and I hope you have an amazing July as well. 🙂 ❤

Also, YAY, congrats on 600 followers!! You more than deserve it, and yay I’m just so happy for you! ❤️I literally failed at reading a lot of LGBTQ+ books in June (though I did read More Happy Than Not) but I just finished Simon Vs. for the first time!! and!!!!! omg why did I wait so long I love it so much!!

I hope your mental health takes a turn for the better in the upcoming month! Happy July 🙂

Congratulations on reaching 600 followers!! 😊👏🏼 Some of the LGBTQ+ books thatI read during Pride Month were Girl Made of Stars, How to Make a Wish, and Ivy Aberdeen’s Letter to the World, all by Ashley Herring Blake. I loved all of these books. 😍 And I’m so glad you’re enjoying The Lightning Thief; the Percy Jackson series is my favorite book series and Rick Riordan is my favorite author! (And ikr, he’s *hilarious*. 😂)
