Top Five Ravenclaw Book Recs! || ft. books for wise & creative intellectuals

Top Five Tuesday.png

RAVENCLAWS!!!!!!!!!! I am so prepared with my Ravenclaw book recs, because my best friend is a Ravenclaw. And I’m an expert at giving her books she loves.

I hardly ever fail

but when i do it takes 13337665 days for my pride to regenerate itself

in conclusion I’m definitely qualified for this Top Five Tuesday. I’m feeling *extremely* confident that all Ravenclaws will be pleased with this list and we’ll instantly be friends.

I also made a Gryffindor book recs post last week!!

(((UPDATE: though the Gryffindors got an aesthetic board, unfortunately the Ravenclaws don’t get to have one because I’m a mess. for example, I just took a drink of water and spilled it all over myself because I can’t even hydrate like a decent person)))

1. Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng

I’m buddy reading this with Julianna from Paper Blots (((who I love and adore sm))) and this book!!!!!!! IT’S SO BEAUTIFUL??????

It’s written with Quality Talent and the vibe itself is 100% Ravenclaw, the prose is so flowery and precise at the same time.

Celeste Ng quietly picks apart everyone’s life, with scientific attention to detail, and it’s elevated me to new heights. we’ve reached untold levels of ~wit~and ~creativity~

This story is also taking me awhile to read because the sentences FORCE me to calmly think about what the characters are doing/saying.

which is the kind of shit a Ravenclaw would do while chuckling intellectually.

2. Vicious by V.E Schwab

I will forever stand by the fact that Victor Vale and Eli Ever are Ravenclaws. They studied so hard at college????????

And they’re so into experiments!! and clever schemes!!

This just goes to show you that nerds are dangerous and should be feared. nerds have had it up to here and *will* start doing crazy things. JUST WAIT.

3. If We Were Villains by M.L Rio

phhhhhhhhh i love this book so much.

IT’S JUST SO PRETENTIOUS and emotional and gay !! I read it back in December, and I’ve yet to read a single book that meets this Standard.

What Ravenclaw can physically resist Shakespeare geeks becoming so enmeshed with their studies that they get involved with actual murder??

4. The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang

The main character, Stella, is like the Ravenclaw archetype. She should truly be the leader. All she really wants to do is math and computer problems??? And solve important world things through the power of numbers?

She’s also logical, introspective, and independent, and only she can truly nurture the Ravenclaws the way they deserve.

5. You Asked For Perfect by Laura Silverman

Academic stress, bro. If you have ever felt 1) like openly crying over a bad grade, because the world should know that tragedy 2) the pressure to be The Best Student Ever 3) you both want to learn but you also hate this freaking class

then you will 2000% relate to this adorable m/m romance.

Vincent and Theo: The Van Gogh Brothers by Deborah Heiligman

Bonus book! I had to include a non-fiction, even though I typically don’t get into this genre. BUT I think a true Ravenclaw would like this occasionally? when the mood appears

This is a platonic love story between two brothers, Vincent van Gogh and his brother, Theo.

It’s based on their letters to one another, in which they basically Vulcan mind meld and bond *intellectually* until they’re soulmates.

which is such a Ravenclaw thing to do.

Wow there are so many great choices here that I don’t even.

Ravenclaw might be my second house after Gryffindor, haha. Oh I enjoyed reading a murder mystery called Death by Silver by Melissa Scott and Amy Griswold. There’s a gay romance there, but the mystery was so intriguing, that I enjoyed the mystery even more than the romance. XD And that’s saying a lot, because I’m such a romance buff. I think murder mysteries in general are quite intellectual, except for the ones that are way too obvious (i.e. any mystery where the murderer is the spouse or lover…so cliched!!)

ahhh tysm!!! + oh gosh now i need to read “Death by Silver”, because i’m also a giant romance fan and whenever someone says,,,,,”the plot/setting are really cool” I just respond with “””””well what about the romance, IS THERE ROMANCE”””””””
but you understand my unending adoration for gay romance, so i trust that this mystery must be really amazing ❤

+if i read one more mystery where the lover did it, i may go on strike

i literally had a five minute debate w myself to decide if Vicious is a more Ravenclaw or a more Slytherin book and i’m still undecided, why are you forcing me to spend time like dis.

also, you asked for perfect absolutely sounds like a Ravenclaw book, i’m so excited for it (!!)

  4. Malka @ Paper Procrastinators says:

WHAAAAT! Every single character in Vicious is such a Slytherin! I mean their ambition knows no bounds!

Otherwise, I totally agree with all the other choices on here. (That I’ve read, that is). Stella is totally The Ultimate Ravenclaw TM. And You Asked For Perfect even came to mind just from reading the title!

I WAS SO CONFLICTED, bc i was thinking they focus so much on college, so we have no choice but Ravenclaw. BUT slytherins love learning too, they like the ///books and projects////!!!! and they love their *revenge* and *evil plots* more than anything in this world, just like victor and eli.

i think if they were wizards Hogwarts would build a Slytherclaw house just for themmmm. because they are ❤ special boys ❤

I’m really love this theme of Harry Potter topics that’s been set, and I’m definitely looking forwards to seeing the rest of the houses too (especially Hufflepuff!) 😀 ❤️
I love Vicious, and yes it’s the perfect book for Ravenclaw readers because I can’t keep up with the ways Eli and Victor battle one another. They always seem to be ten steps ahead of everyone else (for me they’re both Slytherin characters too though). I have If We Were Villains on my TBR list (even though I’m not a Ravenclaw) and oh I loved You Asked for Perfect. Ariel is definitely 100% Ravenclaw in my mind! 😀
Great post, and great recommendations as well Malanie. 🙂 ❤️

i’m so excited for Hufflepuff toooo!!!!!! it will be the fluffiest, friendliest, most wholesome post of my entire life and i cannot wait ❤

+ ldjdlfkj that is so true, the way Vicious is set up plot-wise is for sure perfect for Ravenclaws, it's so intricate and intellectual????? and we get to constantly guess what Victor Vale is thinking

also i am living for when you read If We Were Villains so we can discuss the characters + the story, i think you'll love this book so muchhhh.

If there are any books you have on that post which I haven’t read/don’t have on my TBR list already I’ll have to add them for sure! 😀 ❤️
I could never guess what he was thinking. I just had to go along blind which still worked for me.
I’ll try and get around to it soon then. You haven’t led me wrong when it comes to books I need to read. 🙂 ❤️

I’m loving these recommendation posts! 🙂 Ohh I never thought of Victor and Eli as Ravenclaws (I was thinking more 🐍), but now that you said it, I can totally see it!! They would definitely be the more extreme Ravenclaws 😱 I also have a great need for You Asked for Perfect 😍

Awesome list though I haven’t read any of these yet. But know that I’m so excited for The Kiss Quotient and You Asked for Perfect! Oh, and Vincent and Theo sounds good!

My fave character (for the whole series, not just on Ravenclaw) is Luna Lovegood! I love her so much and I was so happy when I got myself a spectrespecs necklace!
