Top Ten Favorite Book Quotes // ft. adorable and intense characters who encourage me daily

Top Five Tuesday.png

Whenever I think about book quotes, I automatically think about my favorite characters.

If I don’t like a character, I won’t remember anything, bUt if I love a character I’ll go out and burn their every s y l l a b l e into my brain 🙂 or onto sticky notes because my memory is bad even though I’m young and healthy lols

Here are characters that own my heart, saying adorable and intense things!

(Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl)

“I’m not really sure why. But… do you stop loving someone just because they betray you? I don’t think so. That’s what makes the betrayal hurt so much.”

-The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson (GR)

This quote is from Kelsier, one of my favorite characters of all time. His love for his friends knows absolutely no bounds. He may be dramatic for days but I would leap into the chaos of war for his sake.

Untitled design (1)

“Everyone deserves hugs and to know that someone in the world still worries about them, no matter what they’re doing, or even if they’re mad at one another.”

-Dear Aaron by Mariana Zapata (GR)

THE SOFTEST QUOTE. Whenever Mariana writes us petals-and-pure-happiness sweetheart characters, I know that my heart is going to be taken away. There are no doubts.

Untitled design (1)

“I wouldn’t give up a single minute of the time I’ve spent with you. Not even the difficult parts.”

-When My Heart Joins the Thousand by A.J Stieger (GR)

The most underrated book of all time. I am personally offended!!!!! My life’s purpose is to nurture and care for, “Darius The Great is Not Okay” and “When my Heart Joins the Thousand” because they both deserve attention.

Untitled design (1)

“I don’t love you. And I can kill anything.”

-The Poppy War by R.F Kuang (GR)

As much as I love declarations of tender eternal love, I also love when a character looks at you and is not impressed = “I don’t love you and I can murder you with minimal effort.”

Untitled design (1)

“The most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or touched, they are felt with the heart.”

-The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry (GR)

Saying “The Little Prince” is the wisest person here = a correct statement no matter where you are or what you’re doing

Untitled design (1)

“What I mean is, I love winter, and when you really love something, then it loves you back, in whatever way it has to love.”

-A Separate Peace by John Knowles (GR)

FINNY! A REAL SWEETHEART, THAT FINNY.

Untitled design (1)

“I feel I can trust you. That may seem so small an admission, but from me, it is the greatest compliment I can ever give.”

-The Diabolic by SJ Kincaid (GR)

I struggled to breathe when Tyrus said this to Nemesis.

Untitled design (1)

“You can justify anything if you do it poetically enough.”

-If We Were Villains by M.L Rio (GR)

This should be that inspirational quote that’s popular among villains, which they can buy printed on mugs, t-shirts, pillows, etc at their local villain supply store. THE REDBUBBLE UNDERGROUND.

Untitled design (1)

“Everybody in my world knew that regular work was only another name for being robbed and dying of boredom.”

-Fingersmith by Sarah Waters (GR)

I cherish a proud thieving crew

Untitled design (1)

“But at the end of the day”, she says, and puts her hand outside the open window, letting the wind pass through her fingers, “being myself is enough. I’m enough.”

-Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating by Christina Lauren (GR)

I know this is a little cheesy but, at the end of the day, it’s actually not cheesy and Hazel is the best

~Let’s Talk, FRIENDS~

Who is your favorite character of all time?

What is the best thing they’ve ever said?

Love the quote, “What I mean is, I love winter, and when you really love something, then it loves you back, in whatever way it has to love.” Makes you think about things in a different way!

These are some brilliant quotes Malanie, I really love bookish quotes and some of the ones you’ve featured have definitely added to my TBR list just from those few sentences. The Poppy War was already on my TBR list, I’ve heard too many good things about it for it not to be, but I will for sure be adding If We Were Villains too. Also I love the quote you picked from The Diabolic, have you read The Empress yet? It’s amazing and Tyrus and Nemesis’s relationship is so intense! I think you’ll really love it.
Great post, and great picks as well. 🙂 ❤

thank you so much Beth!!! I think you’ll really love Poppy War, it was so beautiful, especially when she was training to be a badass warrior, i was in love with her *scary work ethic*, she so passionate about being a warrior????????sldknf

+ I read The Empress and i’m still an emotional wreck, I AM IN SHOCK! honestly just thinking about it makes me want to burst into tears, the wait for book 3 is taking years off my lifespan. NEMESIS NEEDS A LONG HUG AND REASSURANCE (but i’m also excited to see her reach this level of ruthless determination again)

That’s all right, it definitely sounds like the kind of book I’d enjoy. Plus plenty of people have loved it and I am very swayed by hype so I’ll pick it up sooner or later for sure.
Yes I need the third book like right this second. That ending?! It can’t end like that for Tyrus and Nemesis but I need to know how it ends and what happens next. It’s cruel making us wait to find out.

that’s exactly how it is for me!!! that’s the perfect way to describe it, i’ll remember the feeling I get from the amazing lines, but i’ll forget the lines exactly. i get so overwhelmed with feelings for the characters!! i am hopeless

+I love If We Were Villains w my entire heart, the narrator is such a ray of soft sunshine

it reassures me so much that other people can’t remember quotes v well, all the time I talk to other people who’ve read the same book I have, and I’ll say “remember when he said that one thing”
and they’ll reply with the EXACT line the character said.
      i feel so defeated lol

I love the quotes you picked ♥ I didn’t know most of them, which was great! I wouldn’t be able to choose ONE favourite character, I love too many for that. One quote that stuck with me recently is from Wildcard by Marie Lu: « Reality is the place where you can feel the cracks in your heart. » It just spoke to me so much.

Ahhh loved this and these quotes are so you!💗 I love that Kelsier is on your list, I love him. My favorite character is Ronan from TRC and he has so many wonderful quotes but my favorite is “I am being perfectly fucking civil” because duh.

ahh tysm, it was so hard to write because i’m reading the mistborn series, and trying to type through my tears. I just want TenSoon and Vin to be best friends for eternity, I don’t feel like this is a lot to ask.

+i can’t wait for my Raven Cycle reread, it’s been almost a year and I miss the boys, especially when Ronan delivers his bad-boy-who-is-emotionally-fragile lines ❤
